Dry Needling

Dry needling: relax muscles, relieve pain.

Dry Needling is a therapy technique used by physical therapists to treat muscle pain, tightness, and movement restrictions. It involves inserting very thin needles into trigger points tight knots in the muscles to release tension, improve blood flow, and reduce pain. Unlike injections, no medication is delivered; the needle itself stimulates a natural healing response in the body.

This treatment is commonly used for conditions such as neck and back pain, headaches, tendonitis, sciatica, sports injuries, and muscle strains. It can also help with chronic pain conditions like fibromyalgia and improve joint mobility and posture by relaxing tight muscles. Although often confused with acupuncture, dry needling is based on modern medical science and focuses on muscle dysfunction, while acupuncture comes from traditional Chinese medicine and targets energy flow through meridians. During treatment, you may feel a quick twitch or slight discomfort when the needle hits a trigger point.

Some soreness may follow for a day or two, and relief can be felt immediately or after a few sessions depending on the condition being treated.
